Moles and Mole Hills - What are they?.

Moles are small tunnelling mammals known for creating mounds of soil, where visible can create a lot of mess or damage to lawns.

There hills are also known for damaging farmland, sports pitches, horse paddocks, golf courses and many other grassland areas.

Moles will travel frequently for food, making tunnels through the soil and many other sub-surface conditions to establish a territory. Once they have found a suitable area, they will begin making a network of tunnels, subsequently creating undermining runs and heaps of soil. Under the surface of the soil, the mole will feed on invertebrates, and its main diet is the earthworm.

They are solitary creatures, except in the breeding season, where they will have an average of 4 - 6 young per nest and sometimes more than once per year.
